Mission

The franco-senegalese school, accredited within the AEFE network, is hiring an english teacher for elementary classes, starting as soon a possible

Teaching position (27 hours per week)

Position Overview:

The Foreign Language Teacher (English) works within an AEFE-accredited school, delivering English instruction in accordance with the French National Education curriculum. The teacher fosters students’ linguistic skills and promotes cultural awareness, aligning with the standards of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

The teacher will ensure  english teaching in CE2, CM1 and CM2 (9 classes): of which
 1h30 per class for language learning
 1h in EMILE (Teaching a subject through the integration of a foreign language), working with the French-speaking teacher on a subject determined together.

The candidate will need to demonstrate real interpersonal skills and an openness to the local environment in order to integrate into the specificities of the french programs and local teaching (participation in various work groups, multicultural team).

He/she must demonstrate a willingness to take an active part in cooperative teaching initiatives, and to work with his/her French and Senegalese peers

Main Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality English lessons, adhering to official curricula and adapting teaching methods to students' needs.
  • Design and implement diverse and innovative learning sequences that integrate both oral and written skills.
  • Assess student progress through formative and summative evaluations using appropriate assessment tools.
  • Promote interdisciplinary learning and collaborate with fellow teachers on cross-curricular projects.
  • Incorporate digital tools and innovative teaching strategies into lessons.
  • Encourage cultural discovery of the English-speaking world through various activities (projects, field trips, exchanges).
  • Support students’ individual progress and adapt instruction to different levels and specific learning needs.
  • Co-desgin and co-teach EMILE sequences with other teachers
  • Participate in staff meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and school committees.

Profil

Desired profile:

  • Qualifications: A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in English, Linguistics, or a related field. A Master’s in Education (MEEF) or CAPES certification in English is an asset.
  • Experience: Prior teaching experience in a Francophone and/or international setting is preferred.
  • Required Skills:
    • Fluency in English (minimum C1 level) and proficiency in French.
    • Strong knowledge of the French National Education standards and CEFR benchmarks.
    • Ability to implement differentiated instruction and manage diverse classroom environments.
    • Proficiency in educational technology and modern teaching methodologies.
    • Team spirit, adaptability, and a commitment to working in an international educational environment.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time position (27 hours /week, sequence planning and designing is not included)
  • Local contract
